Rich flora with its shapes creates the unique green scenery where many autochthonous and imported animal species live. Bird species, deer, mouflon and other large game have found their habitat at Brijuni islands. Three ship lines go from Fazana to Brijuni every day. Take one day and visit the intact nature of Brijuni. Do not forget to take your camera…
Fazana
Fazana is a small fishing town situated opposite to the Brijuni islands. The past of Fazana goes back to the ancient Roman time when it was called Vasianum, after the amphora factory, which was there at that time. People of various cultures lived in Fazana and left their trace: Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, and civil and military government of Austria-Hungary monarchy. Parish church, St. Kuzme and Damian is situated in the central town square - today's Fazana was built around this church. Special lure of Fazana are its cobbled squares and alleys, and houses in Mediterranean style, all built next to each other...
The Fazana harbour and waterfront are the main venue of all Fazana's events, various cultural and music events, exhibitions, public festivities, etc. Due to the beautiful beaches and clean sea, Fazana, Valbandon and Surida have developed into desirable holiday destinations.
Valbandon
Valbandon is a tourist settlement situated near Fazana, 6km North-west of Pula. It is in the vicinity of Brijuni National Park which consists of 13 small and 2 big islands, and Pula, an attractive and lively city. This is why we recommend Valbandon to the families with children. The special feature for children is a long pebble beach, which is perfect for safe children's play, while thick pine forests guarantee perfect shade in hot summer days. Valbandon is famous for its beautiful nature, and for its numerous restaurants and camp with many recreational activities. It is only 2km from Fazana, and you can reach it by walking on the well-maintained pedestrian path. The location is perfect - so near various events and yet quiet and peaceful when you need a break.
Several restaurants are on the beach and in the sports harbour. In summer months you can also visit dancing terraces around the town. Each restaurant has its own ambience and type of music, but that wonderful fragrance of good food is what they all have. During the traditional public festivity ''Pod cripnjom'', you can taste the original Istrian dishes prepared using the traditional recipes.
